I thought there was no better way to inaugurate my new personal blog than to announce a major life decision – which is to say, I am very, very pleased to announce that I’ve accepted a position at Nebula as its new Cloud Evangelist, starting September 17th.
I first met Nebula CEO Chris Kemp (formerly CTO of NASA – how’s that for a pedigree) at a party Rackspace Hosting threw during the last OpenStack Design Summit in San Francisco, where he first explained the company’s vision for the importance of the OpenStack project in particular and affordable, open standards-based private clouds in general. It’s going to be my job to share that same vision with the rest of the world, demonstrating how customers across industries and sectors are leveraging Nebula.
I’m excited to be joining ahead of the Nebula private cloud appliance’s general availability down the line. And things aren’t definitive yet, but it’s also looking like I’ll be joining the OpenStack community from this side of the fence for the first time at the next summit in San Diego this fall.
I’m excited to get started at Nebula, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take the chance to thank my soon-to-be former colleagues at SiliconAngle for the chance to work with them these last few months – I learned a lot, and wish them all the best.
Watch this space for updates. Oh – and I’m still going to be doing some freelance journalism on the side, so I hope all my friends in PR will keep sending me pitches.
